Retain the scheduled shift and the time actually worked

A manager’s payroll submission should show changed shifts and the reason for an early dismissal. California reporting-time rules can require pay when an employee reports but receives less than half the scheduled work, subject to exceptions. Flag the event for review rather than deleting the unused portion of the schedule.

Bring sales incentives into the earnings review

Keep approved commission and bonus information with the hourly records. California’s regular rate includes commissions and certain nondiscretionary bonuses. The pay review needs the terms and earning period so an incentive is not treated as unrelated to overtime without an adviser’s decision.

Check the statement before distributing the run

California wage statements identify the pay-period dates and applicable hourly rates with corresponding hours. Compare these with the manager’s approved record, then reconcile the payroll total. Use a predictable schedule and a correction log so staff transfers or revised hours remain traceable.
