Choosing a QuickBooks Online plan by reporting needs
Choose a bookkeeping subscription around the work it must support. Compare users, reporting dimensions and project features before relying on a promotional price or an assumed feature.
This guide describes common bookkeeping practice, not a legal or regulatory requirement.

Use dated list prices as a starting point
As of October 2026, Intuit’s supplied pricing page lists monthly prices of $38 for Simple Start, $85 for Essentials, $140 for Plus and $340 for Advanced. These are dated list prices. Check the linked pricing page for the current amount and terms before purchasing.

Count users and reporting dimensions
The supplied page lists 1, 3, 5 and 25 users respectively across those plans. Plus allows 40 combined classes and locations; Advanced lists unlimited usage for those dimensions. Match access and reporting needs to the actual business workflow before choosing a subscription.

Review project requirements separately
Intuit supports Projects in Online Plus, Advanced and Enterprise Suite, with estimate-versus-actual reporting requiring Advanced. Project phases require Advanced with the Construction add-on or Enterprise Suite. Write down the specific report you need so general project tracking is not confused with an added construction feature.

Plan for limits and later changes
Intuit describes upgrading or reducing usage when limits are reached. As a practical selection exercise, review the chart of accounts, staff access and expected project complexity with your bookkeeper. Confirm add-on terms on the current product page; this guide does not quote unverified payroll or construction add-on prices.
