QuickBooks Desktop 2023 discontinuation and migration
A version discontinuation notice is a reason to check the exact software edition and connected services. It does not mean every QuickBooks Desktop product has ended. Plan any move around payroll, reporting and the records that need to remain accessible.

Identify the discontinued version precisely
Intuit states that QuickBooks Desktop 2023 software was discontinued after May 31, 2026. Its affected list includes the 2023 Pro Plus, Premier Plus and Mac Plus versions and Enterprise 23.0. Check the product and version installed before applying that notice to your business.

Inventory the services affected by the change
The discontinued versions lose live support and security updates, along with connected services such as banking downloads and payment processing. Desktop 2023 also stops automatically calculating payroll taxes and providing payroll tax forms. Review those dependencies before the next payroll or payment workflow.

Compare upgrade and migration paths
The cited Intuit policy identifies Desktop Plus 2024 and Enterprise 24.0 as upgrade paths and says existing Desktop Plus subscription renewals continue. Use the current product-specific instructions when deciding what fits the business. An Online migration should be a planned records project, not an assumption that no Desktop option exists.

List what will not transfer
Intuit’s migration guidance says the audit trail, memorized reports, custom templates, users and permissions, and bank connection setup do not move to Online. Preserve the history and report definitions the business needs, and plan for access and connection setup after the conversion.

Compare reports and coordinate payroll timing
After moving, Intuit directs users to compare Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports using All Dates and Accrual, and to review receivables and Undeposited Funds. It also calls for waiting at least two days after the last Desktop payroll before migration, and two to three business days afterward before starting cloud payroll.
