Food packaging and agricultural receivables
A packaging business may invoice growers, processors and distributors on different terms. Keep customer balances separate and reconcile deductions or credits to the shipment they concern. Labor and packaging materials should remain visible as operating costs so an owner can review margins without relying only on deposits received during the month.
- King City grew as an agricultural city in the Salinas Valley and became a food packaging town; also home to Mee Memorial Hospital and a municipal airport.

Sidewalk funding and a streetscape request
The citywide sidewalk grant and downtown streetscape request are different funding records. Maintain separate project files and avoid assuming the request has been enacted. A contractor can use approved quantities and documented changes to prepare billings while keeping certified payroll records aligned with the particular public works agreement.
- Citywide sidewalk improvements (repairs, ADA ramps, new sidewalk) funded by a $3.5 million CDBG. Amount recorded: $3.5 million. Source status (None): Grant received. Agency: City of King.
- King City Downtown Streetscape Project, final phase (landscaping, public art, pedestrian safety, bike infrastructure). Amount recorded: $950,000 Community Project Funding requested (FY 2026 THUD). Source status (2025): Shovel-ready; federal request May 2025. Agency: City of King.

Rail design and nearby Fort Hunter Liggett
The transportation center is a design-stage project with a planned staging function for soldiers from nearby Fort Hunter Liggett. That context does not make every local contract a federal one. Retain the actual agreement and reporting instructions before deciding how a contractor's payroll file should be organized.
- King City Multimodal Transportation Center (passenger rail platform, transit parking, staging area for Fort Hunter Liggett soldiers, track realignment). Source status (2026): Design phase. Agency: Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) / City of King.
- Fort Hunter Liggett (U.S. Army) trains soldiers near King City; the planned King City rail station includes a staging area for them.
