Agricultural operations and vineyard surroundings

For a grower or vineyard operation, separate crop inputs from equipment purchases and owner transfers. Use work assignments to connect payroll with the activity that generated the cost. Tidwell can help reconcile receipts and supplier balances so seasonal spending can be reviewed alongside available cash and unpaid customer invoices.

  • City markets itself as centered in one of the most productive agricultural areas in the world, with 20+ vineyards and wineries within 30 miles.

Wastewater capacity and the building moratorium

The treatment-plant financing and building pause affect project planning in different ways. A contractor should distinguish an authorized wastewater scope from a development proposal waiting on capacity. Keep committed labor and materials visible by project, and update the forecast from actual contract changes rather than assume every planned development will proceed together.

  • New wastewater treatment plant (capacity from 1.2 to 2 MGD). Amount recorded: $111.3 million total ($75 million grant + $36.3 million SRF loan at 2.2%). Source status (2026): Funded; construction management contract approved. Agency: City of Greenfield (State Water Board / Central Coast Water Board funding).
  • Building moratorium (passed Aug 2025, effective June 2026 after HCD approval) pauses new construction until wastewater capacity is upgraded; reviewed every six months.

Recreation design still depends on funding

The recreation center's design progress does not eliminate the funding condition. Keep prospective bids in a planning list while tracking committed materials and payroll only for authorized jobs. A federal grant application is a separate event from an award and from any later construction contract.

  • Recreation center and park (~$22 million; $8.5 million state parks grant, $6 million LWCF application). Amount recorded: ~$22 million. Source status (2027): Design complete; construction targeted Jan 2027 if funded. Agency: City of Greenfield.
  • City applied for $6 million from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund for its recreation center.
