Build an entry from the brokerage statement
Identify gross compensation, brokerage charges, referral amounts and the net transfer before choosing accounts. Retain the statement as support. Your CPA determines how compensation and shared-team arrangements should be treated; file setup applies those instructions consistently.
Decide whether listing-level classes are useful
Classes can segment QuickBooks transactions, and Intuit recommends a simple class list. Consider a small, maintainable reporting structure rather than creating a permanent class for every address without a plan. Test how shared marketing costs will appear before recoding the past year.

Find the expense that was entered twice
A card import and a manually recorded receipt can refer to the same charge. During cleanup, compare entries to statements and the original supporting documents. Intuit advises deleting transactions only when they are certainly duplicates or errors. Review the resulting income and expense reports with unresolved items clearly identified.
